Roofis
Meet Roofis! 🐾 Roofis is a 3-year-old Lab/Husky mix who has worked incredibly hard to get to where he is today.
Roofis came to us with three of his littermates after receiving very little socialization. They were absolutely terrified of people and the world around them. Building their trust has been a long process, and Roofis has made amazing progress. It took months before we could put a collar on him, but little by little, he learned to walk on a leash, go through doors, visit the dog park, ride in the car, and even make a trip to the vet.
Roofis is currently being fostered by one of our staff members, which is helping him learn what life in a home is like. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with them. He is curious about cats and can be a little much for them, but he is learning.
Underneath that nervousness is an incredibly sweet boy with so much love to give. ❤️ Roofis needs a patient and understanding family who will give him the time and space he needs to decompress, build trust, and continue gaining confidence.
He has been waiting for his chance for more than a year and a half. If you think you could be the patient, loving home Roofis has been waiting for, please contact the shelter to set up an appointment to meet him.
Niko
Meet Niko! 🐾 This handsome 2-year-old is incredibly smart, sweet, affectionate, and full of personality. He loves hugs and attention and has already made great progress since coming to us.
Niko is a herding breed with some specific needs, so finding the right home for him is especially important. He needs someone who has experience with herding dogs and understands their behaviors. He can nip when trying to get his way or “herd” people, so a home with small children would not be a good fit. He is also cat reactive. Niko seems to do well with most dogs, although a meet and greet will be required.
Because Niko is quite the jumper, a 6-foot fence is REQUIRED, with no exceptions. Herding breed experience is also required. He would benefit greatly from professional training and a home that can give him plenty of structure, activity, patience, and consistency.
Niko has come a long way considering his life before coming to us. With the right person willing to continue working with him, we know this sweet, intelligent boy has so much potential to be an amazing companion. ❤️
Penny
Meet Penny! 💜 Penny is estimated to be around 8 1/2 years old, and this sweet girl has been through quite a journey since coming to us.
Penny arrived emaciated and dealing with fleas, ticks, heartworm, and Lyme disease. Once she gained weight and completed treatment, she also underwent surgery to be spayed and have several mammary masses removed. Through all of it, Penny has shown us just how strong and resilient she is.
Now we want everyone to know the Penny we have come to love! She is an absolute love bug who adores affection and car rides. She is amazing with the children in her foster home and does well with dogs around her size. Larger dogs seem to make her a little nervous, and we have not yet seen how she does with cats.
After everything Penny has overcome, she is ready for the best part of her story—a family of her own. ❤️
Penny is currently in foster care, so if you would like to meet her, please call the shelter at 419-663-7158 to schedule an appointment.
Tucker
Meet Tucker! 🐾 Tucker is around 5 years old, and while our best guess is that he may be a Chow/Shepherd mix, we know for sure that he is 100% love bug!
Tucker seems to like just about everyone he meets. He doesn’t show much interest in the other dogs at the shelter, but he isn’t reactive toward them either. He is very interested in cats, although we don’t yet know how he would do with cats roaming freely in a home.
Tucker does have skin allergies and is currently on medication. This will likely be something his future family will need to continue managing, but it certainly doesn’t slow this sweet guy down.
If you’re looking for a handsome, affectionate companion, stop in and meet Tucker. He may just be the perfect addition to your family! ❤️
